Dr. Dimitrios Th. Papadimitriou was born in 1971 in Thessaloniki and raised in Athens, where he graduated with honors from Varvakeio Model School.

He obtained his Medical Degree, specialization in Pediatrics, and PhD in Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Patras. He pursued four years of postgraduate training in Pediatric Endocrinology.

He received a two-year Postgraduate Diploma (DIU) in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology from the University of Paris V, with clinical training at St. Vincent de Paul University Children’s Hospital in Paris.

He also completed one year of postgraduate training (Master’s) in Medical Education at the Joseph-Fourier University of Grenoble, France, where he worked as Lecturer – Chef de Clinique des Universités in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology, holding a full salaried faculty position at the University Hospital of Grenoble for two years.

Since December 2005, he has organized and directed the Department of Pediatric–Adolescent Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Athens Pediatric Center.

He also served as Specialist Scientific Associate, University and Academic Fellow at the 3rd Department of Pediatrics, University of Athens, at Attikon Hospital, for 12 years (2006–2017). In addition, he was responsible for the Endocrinology Clinic of the Adolescent Health Unit, 2nd Department of Pediatrics, NKUA, for two academic years (2015–2017).

As a culmination of his academic career, in September 2019 he applied for the position of Associate Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since May 2021, he has been serving as Academic Fellow at the Adolescent Endocrine Disorders Clinic, Endocrinology Unit, 2nd Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, NKUA. He also teaches in the MSc program “Research in Female Reproduction”, the MSc program “Endocrine Neoplasias” of the Surgery Department, NKUA, the MSc program “Modern Prevention and Management of Pediatric Diseases” of the University of Thessaly Medical School, as well as in undergraduate elective courses in Endocrinology and Neonatology at the University of Athens Medical School.

He has authored 44 full publications in international SCI journals (indexed in PubMed), including 22 in the past five years, with an h-index of 16 (5-year h-index 12), h-10 index of 22 (5-year h-10 index 16), and 773 total citations, of which 443 were since 2018. He has also published at least 56 abstracts in supplements of international journals, 46 of which are listed in Google Scholar and 7 indexed in PubMed Central.

Most recently, he was invited by the European Society of Endocrinology to deliver a lecture on “Role of Vitamin D in the Prevention of T1 and T2 Diabetes” at the 25th European Congress of Endocrinology, 13–16 May 2023, Istanbul, Turkey.
